Macular Pigment Density Measurement -

For patients at risk for AMD, it is critical that they know how much protective pigment they have in their macula.  The Densitometer® can measure the levels of pigment and demonstrate increases resulting from prescribed supplementation with macular carotenoids.  Patients don't often know if supplements they are taking are actually working.  When able to measure levels of macular pigment, and then show them the improvement at their next follow-up visit, it not only reinforces that what they are doing is working, but it also helps increase compliance because the patient understands the positive results of following the doctor's recommendations.
